Lesson 1
Summary: Concept of school subjects and branches of study
When we talk about the school subjects we mean parts of study into which our learning is divided. For example, your today's learning may be divided into Portuguese Language, Philosophy and Biology. So, Portuguese language, Philosophy and Biology are school subjects.
Other school subjects taught in the Mozambican high schools include: Foreign Languages (English and French, including Portuguese); Social studies (History, Geography, Philosophy including psycho-pedagogy); Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics); Mathematics, Art, Drawing and Descriptive Geometry, Visual Education, Farming, ITC (Information, Technology and Ccommunication) and Physical Education.
There are three main groups of study taught in the Mozambican high schools. Students can choose to take Mathematics and social sciences (known as Group A); Mathematics and natural sciences (Known as group B) and group C, where subjects like Visual Education, Drawing and Descriptive Geometry are included.

1. Make a list of the school subjects that you study in your class.
2. Using a dictionary or Web browser, find the definitions of the following school subjects:
a) Biology
b) Mathematics
c) Physics
d) Chemistry
e) Geography
3. From the groups of study identified above, which one are you taking?

Lesson 2
Summary: Concept of Future professions
Future professions refer to the careers or professions that we wish to be or become after finishing our studies. For example, Amélia's dream or wish is to become a teacher, so teacher is Amélia's future profession. What's your future profession?
Other future professions include: pilot, sailor, plumber, builder, doctor, engineer, carpenter, tailor, model, writer, journalist, driver, salesman, police officer, mechanic, architect, economist, judge, nurse, lawyer, accountant, etc.
Exercise 1 (Oral practice)
1. Answer these questions using your previous acquired knowledge: for example, a pilot is someone who drives an aeroplane.

Lesson 3
Summary: Future professions and related school subjects
If one wants to become a future professional of a certain job, there will be a group of school subjects that will help to gain knowledge and competences so that the job is well performed. For example, if you want to be a doctor, you have to be good at Biology and Chemistry, so, doctor career is related to biology and chemistry because having knowledge of biology and chemistry will help whoever wants to become a a doctor to perform well his duties with competence.

Summary: Future continuous tense
Study these examples
Amélia will be working as a doctor after she finishes her studies.
I will be studying English Language Teaching course by this time in 2025.
Form
Positive form
We form the future continuous by adding will be + the main verb in gerund, i.e. will be+verb-ing
Example: Rita will be driving a luxury car by this time next year.
We will be studying Biology subject after this lesson.
Negative form
We form the negative of future continuous by adding will not be (won’t be) and verb in gerund, that is: subject + won’t be + verb-ing.
Examples: Rita won’t be driving a luxury car by this time next year.
We won't be studying Biology subject after this lesson.
Question form
The question of future continuous is formed by adding will + subject +be and the verb in gerund. That is, will+ subject+ be+ verb-ing...?
Example: Will Amélia be working as a doctor after she finishes her studies?
___Yes, she will.
___No, she won't.
Use of future continuous
You use the future continuous tense to describe:
multiple actions happening in the future;
planned or confirmed future events taking place at a specific time.
Examples: I will be writing a math test tomorrow afternoon.
Suzana will be going to the shop tomorrow morning.

Summary: Future perfect simple tense
Study these examples
By December 2026, I will have finished grade 12.
Elisa will have arrived from the trip by tomorrow midday.
Form: (subject + will have+ past participle)
Positive form
You make the positive form of future perfect simple by adding will have +past participle of the main verb
Examples:
Rita will have finished the English test by 10 o'clock.
Elisa will have finished grade 12 by 2027.
Negative form
You form the negative by adding won’t have +past participle.
Examples:
Rita won’t have finished the English test by 9 o'clock.
Elisa won’t have finished grade 12 by the end of this week.
Question form
You form the question by adding Will +subject + have +past participle...?
Examples:
Will Rita have finished the English test by 8 o'clock?
_Yes, she will.
_No, she won't.
Will Elisa have arrived from the trip by tomorrow midday?
_Yes, she will.
_No, she won't.
Use of Future perfect
The Future Perfect is used to show that an action will be complete before some time in the future.
